Religious Studies Major

The Department of Religious Studies is one of the largest Humanities departments at Duke and one of the most prestigious departments of religious studies in the country. The department offers a major and minor in Religious Studies where students can concentrate on a variety of religions including Judaism.  

Degree Program Requirements Overview
Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies
  • Minimum of 10 courses, including Religion 101 (Introduction to Religious Studies)
  • At least 6 courses numbered 200 or above
  • Either a Religious Studies independent study, group learning experience/seminar, or honors project
Minor in Religious Studies
  • Minimum of 5 courses
  • At least 1 course numbered 200 or above
  • Religion 101 is encouraged
