Perilman Fellows Win Research Scholarships

Perilman Fellows Win Research Scholarships

Three of the Rabbi Nathan J. Perilman fellows from the Center for Jewish Studies have been awarded European Studies Research Scholarships for the academic year 2013-2014. Giuseppe Prigiotti (Romance Studies), Rachel Bessner (History), and Annegret Oehme (German), will be participating in a working group on Jews & Muslims: Histories, Diasporas and the Meaning of the ‘European.’  The scholarships are awarded by the Center for European Studies.

The scholarship supports graduate and professional students, as well as postdocs, wishing to take part in an interdisciplinary student-led European Studies seminar, focusing on the Jewish and Muslim Diasporas. The working group will provide members with the opportunity to develop their research interests and discuss recent scholarship.  Scholars will take active part in the events at the Duke Center for European Studies and commit to attendance of monthly meetings throughout the academic year.  They will record a brief video highlighting their research.
