History & German Majors

The Department of History, among the top 15 programs in the country, has a curriculum that is structured around an area of concentration and book-ended by two hands-on seminars. The department offers a major in History where you can take a variety of Jewish studies classes, including several within the Africa & Middle East geographic concentration.

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literature not only includes the language program, yet offers a full range of courses covering the field of German studies. The department offers a German major where you can concentrate on Jewish studies courses.

Bachelor of Arts in History
  • 10 courses
  • At least 8 courses at 200 level or above
  • 1 gateway seminar
  • 3 courses from an Area of History
  • 4 courses for a Thematic or Geographic concentration
  • At least 2 pre-modern courses
  • At least 1 senior Capstone Seminar
Bachelor of Arts in German
  • 10 courses at the 200 level or above
  • 8 of the 10 courses must be taught in German (exceptions can be made)
